Private House for an Art Lover, Ayrshire

One half of the house dates back to the 1730s, the other to the 1830s, and the whole is listed Category A and in the past was the Principal House of a small Estate.

The works involved internal alterations, upgrading all services the reinstatement of the original finishes and the remodelling of various rooms to suit their new uses and incorporating stylised interior decoration.

Works took place in a phased programme over 8 years, and resulted in a house which has retained it’s historic integrity along with it’s Category A listing, but now provides for a large area of serviced hanging space to cope with the owners comprehensive and varied collection of contemporary paintings.
