The practice has detailed experience in the conservation field, and in particular with projects to provide new or alternative uses for listed or redundan buildings, including several Scheduled Ancient Monuments. Since the outset of the RIAS and RIBA accreditation schemes, several directors of the practice have been accredited and have taken the lead on all of our conservation projects. Through this work we have extensive experience in assisting grant negotiations with Historic Scotland, HLF and other funding bodies. This expertise has resulted in the practice being commissioned for a number of public buildings and the re-use or conversion of historic buildings.
Rebecca Cadie has Advanced level accreditation in Conservation Architecture and currently leads our conservation team and projects in the heritage sector. Several other staff members have conservation experience and are preparing for accreditation.
Gordon Fleming is accredited in sustainable design as part of the initial scheme developed by the RIAS. He leads the practice in our approach to design, particularly for new buildings, and success has been recognised through various design awards. His interests have resulted in utilising some innovative technology, and as a practice we ensure each site and building is considered carefully to produce appropriate solutions. Several other members of staff have developed particular interest and expertise in sustainable issues and knowledge of environmental technology. The RIAS scheme is to be re-developed shortly and as a practice we expect several members to become accredited.
