ARPL win Kirkcudbright Art Gallery contest

Following an open tender invited through Public Contracts Scotland website ARPL have been appointed to design the new £1.6m Art Gallery for Kirkcudbright Town Hall. The gallery will house the permanent collection of over 300 art works of Kirkcudbright's "artist colony" including paintings by Faeds, Hornel, Oppenheimer and Peploe along with a programme of temporary exhibitions. Recent exhibitions have included the "Glasgow Girls" and Monet. The design team will be working to deliver the new gallery by the end of 2016.

The Gallery project completes a trio of recent commisions which are the core of the Kirkcudbright Charter for arts and community led regeneration for the town. The two other listed building projects being repair and re-ordering of the Parish Church and the conversion of the redundant Johnston School as a community and health centre and one-stop shop facilities.
